We’ll be asking questions such as whether you have a growing family, or perhaps elderly parents who may move in with you in the future. We also consider whether you will have handicapped guests or a disabled family member who visits regularly. Do you need to install a ramp now, or to have that ability at a future date? How wide should your hallways be?
If you are entertaining, through which entry would the greatest number of people access your home, and where in the house will they congregate?
Universal Design focuses on the highest quality over the longest span possible for the greatest range of occupants. Universal Design is an interlocking counterpoint to Environmentally Intelligent Design.
